Microlearning Lab: Spot a Good Support Request

About this example

The interactive example and the career story are two different things.

The design thinking

Why each piece is there

Objective — one observable skill. Example — a weak and a strong request side by side. Practice — single choice, select-all and a rewrite, so learners apply the idea three ways. Feedback — explains why, and is announced to screen readers. Nothing auto-advances.

What was simplified: a real lesson would use the organization’s own request form and examples, and I would evaluate it by looking at the quality of real requests afterward — not only the quiz score.

The real-world story

Where it came from

I taught in a public school classroom, and I still create resources for teachers. This lesson uses fictional support tickets to show how the same instructional habits carry over to workplace learning.

What a real version would need

  • Real examples from the team’s own requests, with personal details removed
  • A quick check of request quality before and after the lesson
  • A job aid people can find when they need it again
  • Review with a few learners to see where the wording confused them
